Halloween Story

The black cat twitched its tail twice. It hissed. Then, it POUNCED! Not at me, but at the mouse scurrying across the floor. That was the third time today, we probably needed a mouse trap, but this is the story of how I decided. Trixie Treats wasn't bad at it, she just got tired after the fourth or fifth mouse she chased each day. Trixie Treats was my cat, but we mostly call her Trixie.
I really wish you wouldn't, but I already know you did, asking who names their cat Trixie Treats. Here's why: I was at the town Halloween Spooks Street Fair, and Kooky Kars (which sells almost any kind of toy car) announced that this year they would be doing a fundraiser for the animal shelter. A donation of $5 or more could enter you to win the grand prize, 12 Kooky Kars of your choice. Three first prize winners would get a kitten from the shelter (if they wanted one, if not they got a $15 gift card to Walmart), and 5 second prize winners would get a $10 gift card to the movie theater. I decided to donate $6 to the shelter, but when you do, they want your name and the most creative Halloween animal name you can think of. As you probably guessed, I wrote "Trixie Treats". I won first prize but they named it what you wrote on the form, so that's how she got her name.
So, what I was going to tell you before you wanted to know about Trixie's name, was the story of last Halloween. I brought Trixie home from the street fair along with lots of candy, bubbles, a kazoo, a rubber duck, and one of those cheesy coloring books that no one takes seriously. Trixie protected me from so many things that day. I was out trick-or-treating, and I took Trixie with me. I walked up to this one house that was like 3 blocks away, and it had GREAT decorations, but out of no where, Trixie pounced at me! She came leaping with such a big force for such a little kitten, that she knocked me over right as one of the zombie's swords fell right where I was standing literally 3 seconds ago. I was so grateful for Trixie right then. The sword wasn't real, but it fell with its pointy end going straight down that still could have hurt me. I hugged her and kept her right by my side the rest of trick-or-treating.
I got home, and there was a bag of Goldfish (the crackers, not the fish) on my porch. There was a tag that read "From Adam". Adam was my worst enemy for years, and a terrible bully. Every Halloween and April Fool's Day he gave me something nasty. This is why I was surprised it was Goldfish, but I knew something was up. I inspected the bag, but saw nothing wrong. I was just about to open it, when Trixie pawed at the ONE detail I missed. It read, "The snack that fights back", not "The snack that smiles back". I suddenly knew it was from the Perky Pranks Store, they have pretty much every kind of prank there is. Everything and anything from that store was banned at school. That place has the WORST pranks so I went and threw the bag in the trash. I was lucky I hadn't opened that, who knows what might have happened!
Earlier that day, I had been playing a game on the computer, and I was in an adventure with some phantoms chasing me. All of the sudden, the game crashed and went black. I have no idea how the next part happened, so don't ask. Out of no where, one of the phantoms from the game just appeared and started chasing me all over the house! As I was running across the kitchen, brave little Trixie jumped on the counter, and jumped right on the phantom! She went right through it and it disappeared just as quickly as it had appeared. Trixie saved me from some crazy things, so she's the best cat anyone could have. She's a great cat, and a great mouse catcher! Now that I recall all of that, I don't need a mouse trap.....I've got Trixie!

  1. Awesome story Emily. A lot of the time when people write funny Halloween stories, they end up cheesy, but your wasn't (Mostly 😉.) If you had to fix something, I would suggest You reorganize your short stories, while fun to read, the timeline is a bit confusing. Other than that, Great job!

  2. Your story was amazing! I really liked all the detail. Although the order you put the story in is a bit confusing, it was still great!
