Guide to the Survival of Honors Language Arts

I split my 10 must-knows into two sections. One is what I must do to survive LA , and the other is best things about LA.
What I Must DO To Survive LA
1. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. You are in a honors class, you’d think that we could get our work done on time! Especially because we only have TWO homework assignments per month! Just because you put it off doesn’t mean it’ll go away.
2. READ! You’re going to think, “I have the whole year, it’ll be fine”, but then you’re going to have a month left to cram all the extra books in.
3. LEARNING! Story time! When I got into Honors Language Arts, one of my friends told me she was sorry. When I asked her why, she said that honors meant more work, but she was wrong. Every month you get the same two assignments, a monthly contest and a blog post. If you do them quick, it’s no problem, if you don’t… That’s another story.
4. PAY ATTENTION! After a couple years of doing this, I decided paying attention in class is probably important. I suggest you try it.
5. Just RELAX! Honors is great don't work yourself up about nothing. The SAGE doesn't even stand a chance against the power of your mind. Mrs. Robins prepares you with plenty of weapons. Besides, when you're an old man, or lady, you're not going to tell you grandkids in your old crackly voice, "When I was in 7th grade, I totally beat the test. I got a 4! I still remember the awesome teacher..." You get the idea; don't work yourself up.
Best Things About LA
1. You have the BEST TEACHER in the B hall, the upstairs, and maybe even the school. If you’re paying any attention at all, know this. Mrs. Robins cares about each individual person. She’s one of those people that understands everything. She’s here to help.
2. iREAD 40 PARTY! Watch I’m going to read your mind. Here's what your thinking: 40 books! That’s impossible! This is insane! Sorry, it’s not. It’s amazing! You miss out on ½ the day, you eat pizza, eat snow cones, popcorn, and have water fights. All in all, it’s awesome!
3. BLOG POSTS! Yes, it’s homework and anything with the name of homework, must be boring, but this is actually fun. If you get it done quick, you’ll find most of the writing is hilarious.
4. WRITING CONTESTS! You have to do it anyways and there’s prizes.
5. Now I’m not going to lie, LA might be difficult for you, but don’t give up the rewards are fabulous! Did I mention ROBINS REWARDS? A rewards system to get free stuff. Everyone wants free stuff. Not to mention BINGOS! You get a candy after every 5 books on your Bingo Card.

is so much easier than 6th grade.
10. Have and don't stress out on things

These are the Top 10 Ways to Survive 7th grade and Mrs. Robin's Honors Class

These are the Top 10 Ways to Survive 7th grade and Mrs. Robin's Honors Class

10. Pay attention class and get your work done in class. She doesn't really give homework, but if you goof around during class, you'll have to get the work done at home.

9. Put your phone on silent. I don't have a phone, but I've seen somebodies phone go off in the middle of class too many times.

8. Don't read while Mrs. Robins is talking. She will catch you every single time. EVERY TIME!!!!

7. Robin's Rewards are awesome because the rewards at the monthly drawings are always cool, and Mrs. Robins saves the best stuff for you.

6. Writing Contest/Blog Post. They may be difficult, but they help your writing skills improve and it definitely helped me do better on the Sage.

5. DON'T PROCRASTINATE!!!!!!!!! It's not good to procrastinate, and it will never end up good for you. Bad example: I turned this in the day before it was due.Writing Contest/Blog Post. They may be difficult, but they help your writing skills improve and it definitely helped me do better on the Sage.

4. Reading is next up. Trust me when I say you do not want to miss out on the iRead party at the end of the year, even if it is sometimes tough to read every genre. (especially when in the middle of a long series like Ranger's Apprentice, which is a great series that you should read sometime)

3. Zac B. will kill me for this one, but whatever you do don't make puns. If you're like me and you hate puns then you won't like it to have somebody in your class that will make one every chance you get.

2. Make sure you keep track of your grades. One day you'll have an A, two weeks later you'll suddenly have a B-. Then you start thinking it must be the END OF THE WORLD, because you don't have an A in every class. All of the sudden, a giant asteroid falls on the school and destroys the world. The instant before you die you realize you were the cause of the END OF THE WORLD!!!!!

1. The best part about the honors class was the teacher. Mrs. Robins is awesome and probably the best teacher I have ever had.

P.S. Please don't end the world, I wouldn't like it very much.
