My Life As A Writer

My Life As A Writer

I have always had a love hate relationship with writing. The first time I really began to realize I had the best tool ever was in first grade. I was very fortunate to get one of the best teachers, Mrs. Henry. Our class was assigned to write a three-paragraph essay regarding the steps on how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The most exhilarating part was when she read our essays and did the exact steps of our essays. I was very close to making an actual sandwich. That was the one thing that really motivated me. I was very eager to become a better writer.

I'm not going to lie, I have never been the brightest student when it comes to language arts. I myself have grown into a better writer day by day. I always struggled with the Sage test in language arts. I started to genuinely improve around fourth and fifth grade. Being in the dual immersion program was a big advantage for me. I learned to write in English and Spanish. Throughout elementary school I learned multiple ways to write essays. The one that benefited me the most was taught by Teryn Olsen. I use that every day.

My style of writing is very complex. I have a passion for creative writing. I enjoy to just sit down and write. I come up with ideas on the spot and I write them down. One thing that I have written is a biography. I did the project in fifth grade. I enjoyed it very much. I wrote my biography about Blake Lively. I received 100 percent. That was one of my favorite essays/projects. I use adjectives as if they are a car. I use them every time I write. I am one of those people who doesn't like to use words that are mainstream. I love to increase my vocabulary. When I write I repeat what I'm writing. So while you are reading this I want you to imagine myself, doing this in a computer lab talking out loud and making a fool of myself.

I write because it makes cheerful. I get this indescribable sense of joy when I write. Writing is something that I can really express my feelings and thoughts. Its similar to a getaway, a vacation. Its my soft spot. I could write more and more but I think its time to conclude. I love to write. Its my passion and I can't wait to continue it with Mrs. Robins.

  2. Nice, Sammy! You used so much detail! You could try talking more about things you've written lately. You did a good job describing how you feel about writing.

  3. It's cool that you talked about your beginning motivation. Many people forget what made them start something in the first place and it's awesome that you remember. You could describe a little more what it is you write, and maybe some story titles.

  5. I love that you have the passion for writing--the fire in the belly! You've made it such a part of your life, which is cool. I also appreciate how much you've remembered specific teachers and assignments. Mrs. Olsen is a friend and I'm telling her that you gave her the nicest shout-out. As you revise, add more about the specifics of what you write. Well done and welcome to Honors!
