Guide to the Survival of Honors Language Arts

I split my 10 must-knows into two sections. One is what I must do to survive LA , and the other is best things about LA.
What I Must DO To Survive LA
1. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. You are in a honors class, you’d think that we could get our work done on time! Especially because we only have TWO homework assignments per month! Just because you put it off doesn’t mean it’ll go away.
2. READ! You’re going to think, “I have the whole year, it’ll be fine”, but then you’re going to have a month left to cram all the extra books in.
3. LEARNING! Story time! When I got into Honors Language Arts, one of my friends told me she was sorry. When I asked her why, she said that honors meant more work, but she was wrong. Every month you get the same two assignments, a monthly contest and a blog post. If you do them quick, it’s no problem, if you don’t… That’s another story.
4. PAY ATTENTION! After a couple years of doing this, I decided paying attention in class is probably important. I suggest you try it.
5. Just RELAX! Honors is great don't work yourself up about nothing. The SAGE doesn't even stand a chance against the power of your mind. Mrs. Robins prepares you with plenty of weapons. Besides, when you're an old man, or lady, you're not going to tell you grandkids in your old crackly voice, "When I was in 7th grade, I totally beat the test. I got a 4! I still remember the awesome teacher..." You get the idea; don't work yourself up.
Best Things About LA
1. You have the BEST TEACHER in the B hall, the upstairs, and maybe even the school. If you’re paying any attention at all, know this. Mrs. Robins cares about each individual person. She’s one of those people that understands everything. She’s here to help.
2. iREAD 40 PARTY! Watch I’m going to read your mind. Here's what your thinking: 40 books! That’s impossible! This is insane! Sorry, it’s not. It’s amazing! You miss out on ½ the day, you eat pizza, eat snow cones, popcorn, and have water fights. All in all, it’s awesome!
3. BLOG POSTS! Yes, it’s homework and anything with the name of homework, must be boring, but this is actually fun. If you get it done quick, you’ll find most of the writing is hilarious.
4. WRITING CONTESTS! You have to do it anyways and there’s prizes.
5. Now I’m not going to lie, LA might be difficult for you, but don’t give up the rewards are fabulous! Did I mention ROBINS REWARDS? A rewards system to get free stuff. Everyone wants free stuff. Not to mention BINGOS! You get a candy after every 5 books on your Bingo Card.

4. Make sure to do your Writing Contest and Blog post
5.Put your phone in the pockets and make sure its on silent
6.Do extra credit works even if you don't need them.
7. Be Respectful!
8.Check your grades and turn in any missing work
9. Stay positive! I will assure you that everything will be okay and that it
is so much easier than 6th grade.
10. Have and don't stress out on things

These are the Top 10 Ways to Survive 7th grade and Mrs. Robin's Honors Class

These are the Top 10 Ways to Survive 7th grade and Mrs. Robin's Honors Class

10. Pay attention class and get your work done in class. She doesn't really give homework, but if you goof around during class, you'll have to get the work done at home.

9. Put your phone on silent. I don't have a phone, but I've seen somebodies phone go off in the middle of class too many times.

8. Don't read while Mrs. Robins is talking. She will catch you every single time. EVERY TIME!!!!

7. Robin's Rewards are awesome because the rewards at the monthly drawings are always cool, and Mrs. Robins saves the best stuff for you.

6. Writing Contest/Blog Post. They may be difficult, but they help your writing skills improve and it definitely helped me do better on the Sage.

5. DON'T PROCRASTINATE!!!!!!!!! It's not good to procrastinate, and it will never end up good for you. Bad example: I turned this in the day before it was due.Writing Contest/Blog Post. They may be difficult, but they help your writing skills improve and it definitely helped me do better on the Sage.

4. Reading is next up. Trust me when I say you do not want to miss out on the iRead party at the end of the year, even if it is sometimes tough to read every genre. (especially when in the middle of a long series like Ranger's Apprentice, which is a great series that you should read sometime)

3. Zac B. will kill me for this one, but whatever you do don't make puns. If you're like me and you hate puns then you won't like it to have somebody in your class that will make one every chance you get.

2. Make sure you keep track of your grades. One day you'll have an A, two weeks later you'll suddenly have a B-. Then you start thinking it must be the END OF THE WORLD, because you don't have an A in every class. All of the sudden, a giant asteroid falls on the school and destroys the world. The instant before you die you realize you were the cause of the END OF THE WORLD!!!!!

1. The best part about the honors class was the teacher. Mrs. Robins is awesome and probably the best teacher I have ever had.

P.S. Please don't end the world, I wouldn't like it very much.

Top 10 Things You Need to Know About This Awesome Class!

You're all new here right? Haha, I know exactly how you all might feel about 7th grade, but if you fallow along then I can tell you some things that are going to be REALLY important for you, so just listen up:

1. DO NOT under ANY circumstances PROCRASTINATE!!!! It will be the thing that will get you so far behind, that you won't be able to go back. Just don't do it ok? Just don't.

2. READ!! You're going to have to read A LOT this year and if you don't start now, you're going to get lost! (it's bad to get lost if you didn't know)

3. Do EXTRA CREDIT!!! If you do end up getting behind, extra credit will be your buddy this year! It will give you help where you need it!

4. Don't get on Mrs. Robins' BAD SIDE. When she gets angry, it makes you fell really guilty even if you didn't do it. So just try to make her happy and fallow her rules.

5. Learn to like WRITING!!! You're going to be writing a LOT this year, so you should learn to like it so it is easier for you.

6. Be SOCIAL! During the year you are going to do quite a few group projects, so you should get to know the people around you!

7. Be CREATIVE! You are going to have to do many project that involve creative thinking. So be prepared to get your imagination running!

8. Do NOT use YOUR PHONE during class!!!! She might have the phone pockets out next year, but if she doesn't, you better not be on your phone!

9. Love MRS. ROBINS!!!!! You only get her for one year! She has been the best teacher I've ever had! If you end up not liking her, it will make your school year even worse!

10. Last but not least, HAVE FUN!!! When you get to do writing assignments or something you can have your own choice on, do what you can do best and what's fun to you!!

Good luck 7th graders! Have a great school year!

Top ten things to do in Mrs. Robins class!

               1.    DO BLOG POST AND WRITING CONTEST!!!! If you don't do these on time then you will have to do it late and trust me (I should know) it is way better if you do it early so you won't stress.

               2.   READ! Each trimester you have to read twelve books. I would suggest to just read and don't have late books it stresses you out way too much. Also, If you read 40 books throughout the whole year then you can go to the iRead party.

               3.  Don't procrastinate! It is NOT fun when you do. Always just turn in your work and don't wait until the last minute. It really sucks.

               4.  ABSOLUTELY NO PHONES! Trust me. You don't want your notifications on either or she will read them in front of the whole class. It’s embarrassing.

               5.  Do your work in class! Mrs. Robins doesn't really give out homework and you don't want any more so don't wait and goof off in class so you will have to do it at home. You already have enough homework anyway.

               6. When Mrs. Robins says to stop reading and listen to her, you stop reading. This happens to a lot of people but she hasn’t even caught me yet.

               7. Check your grades! To get an A in this class is challenging but surprisingly kind of easy. All you have to do is turn in stuff on time. Also if your grades aren’t passing then you can get kicked out of honors.

               8. Stay positive. Trust me. Mrs.Robins doesn't want a grumpy kid in her class so always have a smile on your face. It makes everything easier.

               9. Listen to Mrs.Robins and be nice. You might want to listen to her so you know what to do so don't go off in la la land and day dream because you will be asking friends and they might have heard her wrong. Also be nice!

              10. Just have fun! This class is supposed to be fun because Mrs.Robins likes us better ;). Also, we get to do all of this cool stuff in this class.

The Top 10 Things to Make it Through
                                               Mrs. Robin's Class

     1. The first thing you must always do to survive Mrs. Robin's class, is to get her to like you. This is the most important one, because once she likes you, you can basically do anything you want.

     2. Turn in your work on time. If you don't, she will haunt you forever. I've had that happen to me to many times.

     3. Always be nice. If you are caught being rude, you will either be asked to stop, or you will get lunch detention. Good thing that hasn't happened to me yet.

     4. Laugh at her puns and jokes. No matter what, even if her puns or jokes are not funny, laugh at them, and Language Arts will be a happy place.

     5. Listen to Mrs. Robins. If you don't listen, you will not no what to do at all. I've learned from experience.

     6. Be positive. If you're always grumpy, Language Arts is really gonna suck. So remember, when you're feeling sad, just remember these words; Lets put a smile on that face.

     7. Always read. If you're not reading, she will shout you're name out loud, and tell you to read. I've had that happen to me to many times.

     8. DON'T PROCRASTINATE! If you do your work at the last possible second, it will look sloppy on bad. I warn you, you will get a bad grade if you procrastinate.

     9. Don't talk out of turn. If you do talk during a lesson, she will call your name out loud, and you will be so embarrassed.

    10. Just have fun! It's Mrs. Robin's Honors Class. You are going to have the time of your life. Good luck!

I know we all sound lame, but hear me out

The school year has been super fun, but now that it's coming to an end it's time to pass my knowledge down to you nerds.

NUMBER 10: Laugh at her jokes. Mrs. Robins has a great sense of humor, and often joins in the conversations. For the most part she does good jokes, but sometimes she does the dreaded, dun Dun DUN! Teacher Joke!!! So just be sure to laugh to avoid awkward silences.

NUMBER 9: Don't turn down the reader's theaters! We've only done a few this year, but they have the potential to be the most hilarious things ever. If you take part in a reader's theatre, be sure to get into your character, and do your best to imitate their actions and accents if they have one.

NUMBER 8: When doing practice writing tests, don't stress if you don't understand. Just remember, the most important part of the essay, is the Thesis. If you can get a good thesis, the essay writes itself.

NUMBER 7: Keep up the jokes and conversations (but only in the right places) It's OK to make jokes, or start discussions in the middle of class lessons. If you find a golden opportunity to make a joke, go ahead, Mrs. Robins will most likely encourage it, as long as it's relevant.

NUMBER 6: Do what Mrs. Robins says. She always makes everything fun, so even if her instructions don't sound appealing, they're probably leading to something awesome.

NUMBER 5: Do your own work! When working in partnerships, make sure you do your part. It's not fair for the other person or persons to do your work.

NUMBER 4: Make friends with table mates. This is a big one. You will do a lot of work with your table partners, so isn't important you know what things they're good at, and some things they probably shouldn't take charge in.

NUMBER 3: Do your best! Even if you don't think your very good at something, do your best. The english language is confusing, so just remember it's OK to be wrong.

NUMBER 2: Don't procrastinate! I co-rule procrastination with some of my friends, and it's not fun. While there isn't a lot of homework, getting assignments in on time is a really good idea, and reduces stress.

NUMBER 1: Stay positive! Although Language Arts can get frustrating sometimes, staying positive can help you figure things out.

Now, I remember reading these from the 7th graders last year, and I thought these were pretty lame, and they were exaggerating how awesome Mrs. Robins and her class is, but take what I've told you to heart. Mrs. Robins is the best!

Beware... 7th Grade Language Arts

1. This is one of the most important tips of all. Always remember, I repeat, ALWAYS REMEMBER that the boys bathroom is on the other side of the hall. I've accidentally walked into the girls bathroom too many times...

2. Bring hand sanitizer. Need I say more?

3. Beware the mystical land of La-La. Once you visit, you can't return, which is why I am the current king of La-La land. Also, I um...     Sorry, I think one of my La-La palace guards was calling me. What was I saying?

4. Don't even try to hide your birthday, Mrs. Robins always knows. ALWAYS.

5. Hey did you guys know that Tacocat spelled backwards is Tacocat? So cool...

6. It doesn't matter how many puns you make, you will never make more legit puns than Zach Brammer. There's two types of puns in this world: A "Zach Pun," and a "Regular Pun" (Both are annoying)

7.  Eat a lot, because there's nothing worse than reading a book about cake when you have an empty stomach. Also, it's totally embarrassing when your belly starts grumbling during silent reading...

8. Beware of the fierce beast known only as... SAGE. You may think that you're ready, and that you're not scared, but in the words of Yoda, "You will be..."

9. Buckle your seatbelt and hold on tight because 7th grade is a fast and crazy ride.

11. < This is a language arts class, not a math class

Top Ten List for Mrs.Robins Class!

1. READ! I always procrastinate when it comes to reading, and now I completely regret it because I won't be able to go to the I-Read 40 club party, which includes missing half of a school day. SO READ.

2. DON'T PROCRASTINATE! If you procrastinate in this class, YOU WILL REGRET IT (like I do). Getting behind in this class is NOT fun, and you might miss out on Gecko Days, which can be really fun.

3. BE RESPECTFUL TO MRS.ROBINS AND YOUR CLASSMATES! Be kind, thoughtful, encouraging, don't talk while Mrs.Robins or another classmate is, don't give anyone a headache, and TREAT OTHERS THE WAY YOU WANT TO BE TREATED!

4. DO WRITING CONTESTS! Writing contests might sound boring, but they can get you AWESOME prizes! (Including cold hard CASH! $$$$!)

5. READ THE WEEKLY BLOG POST! Every week, Mrs.Robins posts a blog on her website, telling you what you will be doing for the upcoming week. It tells you when tests are, when books are do, and if you read it, Mrs.Robins might give you candy!

6. KEEP YOUR GRADE UP IN THIS CLASS! This kind of goes along with not procrastinating, but it is more of a warning. If your grade drops in ANY honors class, it might result in you getting kicked out of honors and having someone else take your spot. DON'T LET THAT HAPPEN.

7. LISTEN TO MRS.ROBINS! If Mrs.Robins tells you to take notes, take notes. If she tells you to be quiet, be quiet. If she tells you to do your homework, do your homework. If she tells you to jump onto a pink fluffy unicorn and ride it upside-down, THEN YOU JUMP ONTO A PINK FLUFFY UNICORN AND RIDE IT UPSIDE-DOWN!! (Got it?)

8. BE POSITIVE! Whatever work Mrs.Robins throws at you, just tell yourself that YOU CAN DO IT and be happy WHILE you do it, not just when you finish it. (Although you will most likely be much more happy once you do.)

9. DO BLOG POSTS! Blog posts are super fun! Getting feedback from your classmates and teacher is kind of fun, too!

10. HAVE FUN!!! This is a VERY fun class, so have fun while your in it! :) GOOD LUCK THIS YEAR!! :)

10 things you need to do in this class

Here are some things you need to do while in Mrs. Robins wonderful class.
10- Do your work. It may seem obvious that you need to do your work but try and stay ahead. Be an over-achiever because then you can always be happy knowing your work is done.
9- NoRedInk. It is incredibly annoying but just do it. It is not fun to do so just get it done and over with as soon as you can.
8- Turn things in. Make sure you turn stuff in. It is really annoying to have to go back and find things, then turn them in.
7- Stay on task. Make sure you are on task because the sooner you get your work done, the sooner your can read.
6- Make friends. This class is usually full of really nice kids and they are good to make friends with.
5- Read. It is very important to do your reading. Just get it all done towards the start of the tri and just get it done. Plus, once you do all of it you can get in the IRead 40 club and have a sweet party at the end of the year.
4- Don't procrastinate. I personally am a pro at this and it is not fun. Doing all of your work the night before is always a bad idea. Just do your work when you get it. It took me about 99/100ths of the year before I understood this but just do your work when you get it.
3- Do your blog posts and writing contests. It sucks to be at the end of the month and having to spend an hour or two writing a last minute post or contest.
2- Take care of your phone. Put it in the slot, and make sure your volume is off. I have seen what happens when people leave their noise on and it is hilarious to us, but sucks for them a lot.
1- And most important of all.... Make puns. Have pun wars with Mrs. Robins(I always won). Make so many puns people are afraid to talk near you because you can make a pun about anything.
Those are 10 things you need to do while in this class. Also ignore Glenn puns are great.

10 things you must know to survive in Ms.Robins

In Ms.Robins class there can be good days and bad days follow the following to survive...

-tip one never ask if a day is important she will scary you and say "all days are equally important" (this technically is not true do you think that Christmas is as important as the day your dog died?)

-second always use spell check without it you (depending on how well you can spell) will surfer tremendously  (luckily I am a naturly gifted speler)

-third if ms. Robins knows your parents avoided letting them have contact it is best if your parents don't know about what your up to.

-fourth when you do the sage test pretend to not know what  your doing when your ace the test you'll get a candy bar.

-fifth always read like crazy the first day of school your'll get a much bigger candy bar if you finish first. (Not that I'm bragging)

-sixth on the blog post always make it funny you get a lot more comments and ms.robins might make it a public announcement (then you get bragging rights)

-seventh Never over think things. The first few sage practice test I tried to make it deep and from the heart the third I wrought a paragraph about how awesome I am (guess which got the high score)

-eight always go and make your classmates mad by reading the novels all they way though then spoiling it for them.

-ninth when you get your table ask to sit close to the back then you can read and get a way with it (not hat I have ever done that)

-tenth for the newspaper never get layout it is crazy hard to get finish but I guess if you like stress go for it
